Who Can Apply?
Your spouse or common-law partner may qualify for an open work permit if you:

✅ Are eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
✅ Are a full-time student at:
- A public post-secondary institution (college, university, or CEGEP in Quebec)
- A private college-level school in Quebec
- A Canadian private school authorized to award degrees (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate)
Processing Time & Validity
- Processing Time: Several months, depending on various factors.
- Permit Duration: Matches the length of the student’s study permit.
When & How to Apply?
- Before or After Arrival: Your spouse/partner can apply from outside or inside Canada.
- With Study Permit: Some visa offices allow applying together. Include the work permit fee in your application.
- At the Border/Airport: If your spouse does not require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), they may apply upon entry.
