Eligibility Criteria for CEC

To qualify for the CEC program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Work Experience

  • At least one year (1,560 hours) of full-time or equivalent part-time skilled work experience in Canada.
  • Work experience must be within the last three years before applying.
  • Eligible jobs must fall under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER levels:
    1. TEER 0 – Management jobs
    2. TEER 1 – Professional jobs requiring a university degree
    3. TEER 2 & 3 – Technical jobs and skilled trades requiring a diploma or apprenticeship
  • Work completed as a student or through self-employment does not qualify.

Valid Work Authorization

  • Work experience must have been gained while working under a valid work permit.

Language Proficiency

  • Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score:
    1. CLB 7 for TEER 0 and TEER 1 jobs
    2. CLB 5 for TEER 2 and TEER 3 jobs
  • Valid IELTS or CELPIP test results are required (valid for two years).

Province-Specific Rules

  • The CEC program does not apply to Quebec, which has its own immigration system.

How to Apply for Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The CEC operates under Express Entry. Follow these steps to apply:
